Q: How are editors selected?

A: Editors are selected by our staff based on memberís applications and the directoryís current needs. Most applicants who apply with reasonable qualifications and a well written application will be assigned a low level category to show their editorial abilities.

Q: Are editors paid or compensated in any way?

A: All of our editors are volunteers. They are generally the type of people that enjoy helping others and working towards building things for the greater good.

Q: What are the key criteria editors should consider when reviewing lists?

A: Editors should consider the overall usefulness and value of a submission to their category when judging a list for addition. Also, consider:
* how useful each specific list itemís content is
* if the content is unique content
* whether the content is well written and grammatically correct
* whether the content fits the category
* whether the content is written objectively and without unnecessary bias. If you have additional questions regarding the editorial process, please feel free to contact the editor of your parent category or a site administrator.

Q: How are subcategories added to the directory? Do editors do that on their own?

A: Yes, and again, this is a great way to help grow the directory. But before adding a sub-category, editors should ask themselves the following questions:
1. Does the sub-category really fit into the parent category Iím adding it to?
2. Are there other similar categories in the directory that could server the same purpose as this category?
3. Are there enough existing or potential lists and subjects to make the category a useful edition to the directory?

Anyone is free to submit their information to be included in the directory and is strongly encouraged to do so as long as it meets our terms for inclusion.

Q: I already edit a category, but I want to do more. Can I apply to edit other categories?

A: Absolutely. Some of our best editors edit a number of categories, many of which are totally unrelated. Just be sure to leave yourself enough time to work on each of your categories, and feel free to resign from editing any categories you are no longer interested in or wish to edit.

Q: Can I resign from editing a category? Will this adversely affect my chances of being approved to edit other categories?

A: You can always resign from editing categories if you no longer have the time or interest to do so effectively. Resigning from categories you have maintained properly will not affect your chances of being approved to edit other categories in any way.

Note: Editors will find a more thorough FAQ in their editor control panel with specifics on how to run their categories and specific editorial guidelines for content.
